Dear Friends in Christ,
At the beginning of the month, we had our annual mission retreat. It is always a good time of fellowship as we see friends and hear how God has been working in their ministry on the various reservations. This year, we decided to say thank you to those on our advisory board. One man was a former pastor for 3 of our missionaries, as well as others that are now serving in different ministries. One week later, we received word that this man went Home to Heaven. He was in his 90’s and had lived a life that was an encouragement to so many Christians. It was a challenge to all of us to be faithful in letting God use us. We are so glad that as a group, we took the time to say thank you.
Please continue to pray for Janet’s visitation partner, Helen. She has had more physical problems, then surgery and now 6 weeks of rehab and therapy in another nursing home in Flagstaff. We can see God’s hand in bringing Mary along to translate. He brought her alongside Helen to observe and now will have the opportunity to be more active. She is excited about helping and being used by God.
We are still waiting to hear if the Alaska Power company will set up power lines to make electric accessible to the radio station property. Please continue to pray and we will share as we hear more information. Sam is planning a trip in mid-August as we have a volunteer work crew coming from NC to work more on the building in Thorne Bay. We appreciate your prayers for this outreach.
One week-end this month, we were on the reservation, filling in for a Navajo pastor that had to be away. We have known some of these people for many years (some since they were campers at our summer “On the Hoof” Bible camp). We always enjoy spending time with them in the Word.
Sam had a birthday this past month and his students in his Sunday Bible School class surprised him with cake and song. We thought you would enjoy the enclosed pictures; one with the ladies and one with the men.
