Statement of Faith

ABOUT THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the inerrant, perfect, and preserved Word of God, fully and verbally inspired of God. We believe God not only inspired every word, but has preserved them through the ages. We believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people and that it should be used exclusively in our preaching and teaching for English speaking services. (Psalm 12:6-7; II Timothy 3:16-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21).

ABOUT THE TRIUNE GOD

God the Father- We believe God is supreme in His person, eternal in His being, absolute in His attributes, glorious in His perfection, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love. (Eph. 20:2,3; I Cor. 8:6)

God the Son (Jesus Christ) – We believe in the virgin birth of Christ, His deity and sinless life, His vicarious death, His bodily resurrection and ascension, and in His personal, visible, pre-millennial, pre-tribulational, and imminent return to the earth according to His promises, which is our blessed hope.

God the Holy Spirit – We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature; that He was active in creation; that His relation to the unbelieving world consists of restraining the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of righteousness, and judgment; that He bears witness to the truth of the gospel in preaching and testimony, that He is the agent in the new birth; that He seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, and helps the believer.

ABOUT CREATION

We accept the Genesis account of creation, and believe that man came into being by direct creation.

ABOUT THE DEVIL OR SATAN

We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is the unholy god of this age, and the author of all the powers of darkness, and is destined to eternal justice in the lake of fire.

ABOUT THE FALL OF MAN

We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state, in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not only by constraint, but by choice, and are therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse.

ABOUT THE ATONEMENT FOR SIN

We believe that salvation of sinners is wholly of grace; through the mediatoral offices of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father freely took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; that His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a martyr, but was a voluntary substitution in the place of the sinner, the Just for the unjust; that having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in heaven, and uniting in His person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection, that He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, compassionate, and all sufficient Savior.

ABOUT THE NEW BIRTH

We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again, that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is an instantaneous work and not a process; that in the new birth one dead in sin is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God; that the new birth is brought about in a manner beyond our comprehension, solely in the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel; that its proper evidence appears in the Holy fruits of repentance and faith and newness of life.

ABOUT THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER

We believe that all who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ for all time.

ABOUT THE DOCTRINE OF THE CHURCH

We believe in the universal church (the body of Christ), which is made up of all blood bought, born again believers from the public ministry of Christ until His coming again for His own. We believe that a local church is a congregation of immersed; born again believers, practicing New Testament principles, believing its doctrines, observing its ordinances and exercising its autonomy. And we believe in the God-ordained ministry of the local church as the center of all Christian activity, including fellowship, worship, service and evangelism.

ABOUT SEPARATION

We believe that every born again Christian should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord; and that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures and practices and associations is commanded of God.

ABOUT THE ETERNAL STATE

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life with Christ in heaven, the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.

ABOUT WITNESSING

We believe that all believers are to be witnesses unto the lost for Christ. We believe that all believers have certain God-given gifts and are stewards for God and that some are called to preach or to other special tasks. We also believe that all who have rejected the gospel or have never heard the gospel are lost and that it is every believer’s responsibility to carry personally or send by another, the gospel to every creature.

OUR POSITION

The Independent Baptist Indian Mission Inc. is a fundamental organization, so we must take our stand regarding current trends that lead to discrediting the Bible and undermining the fundamentals of the faith.  We oppose liberal theology, neo-orthodoxy, neo-evangelicalism, the charismatic (modern tongues) movement, ecumenicalism, National Council of Churches, and the World Council of Churches.
