Dear Friends in Christ,
As we mentioned last month, Sam was not able to make the last trip to Thorne Bay, AK, this summer. He had a Dr. appointment instead. The Dr. has scheduled some tests for next month (Sept.). We see that as good news-If the Dr. is willing to wait for a month, he must not see any urgency. We are eager to find the problem and that it can be corrected. Pray with us.
We’ve been asking prayer for the power company to put in electric to the station site. Here’s the latest report: The man that Sam first talked with was very discouraging. However, he has been replaced and this summer the men from the NC work crewtalked with the woman that replaced him and we were sent forms to fill out and return for a feasibility study. We hope this will open up that door. Please pray with us. Wouldn’t it be great to see God answer our prayers and make the seeming impossible-possible?! (Putting in electric power will increase the radio air time, as well as make life easier for the missionary family that will keep the station running.)
We are so thankful for the men from NC that willing gave their time and abilities this summer at Thorne Bay. Several used their knowledge and experience from their personal careers such as construction, technology, etc. Many of them had to use their vacation time to do the work. Thank you!! Thank you also to the families that were at home without them. We know it was done for the Lord, but we are grateful for their willingness to serve and help us in this outreach.
This coming week, the Northern Arizona School of the Bible starts the fall semester. This year, Sam will be teaching a class of CHRISTIAN FAMLY LIFE and HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE. We don’t know just how many students will be returning nor how many new students will be enrolled, but looking forward to another year of classes. (It seems hard to believe summer is almost past and the fall season is about to begin, but school has begun!) Pray with us.
Janet is also busy. She only has 1 piano student this fall; a young Navajo boy who accepted Christ as Saviour and was baptized a year ago. (His Grandfather was one of Sam’s former Bible School students.)
She is still committed to her ministry at a local Adult Residential Home. She goes every week to visit one of our former church members from Tuba City, (on the Navajo Reservation) as well as once a month having a group Bible reading and singing a couple of old hymns. There are at least a dozen each month that attend the reading and frequently they express thanks for the time in the Bible. Many have trouble reading the small print in their Bibles and therefore don’t read daily. We have provided magnifying sheets for them, but residents in this hall also have memory difficulties.
Now that the Covid restrictions are relieved a bit, the WOMEN OF THE WORD ladies’ Bible Study has begun to meet again and Janet has been asked to resume doing childcare for them. This started this past week. The moms get to study the Bible together undistracted, while Janet gets to rock and cuddle little ones. (A win-win situation, that becomes more challenging as the years pass.)
She is also preparing for a third year of a children’s bell choir during the Christmas season. This year’s emphasis Is focused on the fulfillment of prophecy in the birth of Christ and therefore the reliability of God’s promises. Thank you for your prayers for these ministries.
Again-Thank you to each of you for your prayersand help in our ministry. You are very much needed!
II Cor. 2:11 “Ye also helping together by prayer for us.”
In Christ,
Sam & Janet Grammer
