Jones August 2024

Dear Family and Friends,

In the last three months, we have had a great summer packed with camp, youth conferences, Vacation Bible School, and discipleship. God has been working on a lot of hearts here on the reservation. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13.

During the month of May, we had church-wide canvassing and several young people joined Pastor Jacob in handing out invitations for our Mother’s Day Service. We had a few young adults that started attending our church. Pastor Jacob was able to lead one to the Lord and the other 2 were already saved. In the middle of the month, he was also able to take them to a revival meeting at Liberty Baptist Church in Yuma, AZ. They got to hear Dr. Marvin Smith and were refreshed and encouraged! On May 20th-21st, Pastor Jacob was able to visit his sending church – True Light Baptist of Los Lunas, NM. He got to hear great messages with Pastor Alan Domele. Later that week, he was able to visit and go soul winning with two new church planters, Pastor Ray Martinez and Pastor Andrew Unger, who are both starting works in Albuquerque, NM.

June was a month filled with God’s grace. During June 17th-21st we had a few of our young people go to Jr. Camp at West Branch Camp. The following week, Pastor Jacob took four teens to Teen Camp.

The Devil was fighting the whole week. Two of our Teens kept fighting with Pastor Jacob and wanting to do their own thing. Meanwhile, back at home,  Lydia’s mom, Mrs. Veldhuis, was positive for COVID.

On Monday, her dad was admitted to the hospital with a third heart attack. He had three procedures to place stents. Thankfully, he’s made a good recovery as has her mom! Whenever God’s at work the Devil is working overtime. “The thief cometh not, but for to kill, steal and destroy, I have come that they may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Jn. 10:10

Even though all of this was going on, Pastor Jacob kept praying and working with the Teens. By  the end of the week one teenager got saved, and the two that were causing trouble had their hearts softened towards the things of God. Thankfully, her  mom was cleared for COVID by the end of the week and was able to join her husband the last few days of his hospital stay.  He was then released from the hospital and told to rest.

During the month of July, we needed to assist Pastor Veldhuis at their church. During the second week of July, we had 2 events going on. Our New Haven Teens attended Pacific Baptist’s  youth conference in Long Beach, CA. During the same time, we also assisted the Veldhuis’ in their week-long VBS monitoring, story-telling, and assisting with games, while the church staff watched our Teens in Long Beach. Several souls were saved and our Teens were greatly encouraged by the conference!

The 21st-24th of July, we had a group from North Carolina who came out to help us with our VBS. They were so much of a help and encouragement to us!

We had a total of 38 in attendance. 6 raised their hands wanting to learn more about Jesus. Our group gave them the Gospel, but none of them were ready to receive it. Each team could get points for bringing their Bible, attendance, and visitors. The one who got 1st place got to choose to have the pastor eat a goldfish, pie the pastor, or make him a human hotdog. Ziggy brought 6 visitors, and chose to make Pastor Jacob a human hotdog! Everyone was able to join in on the fun!

Thank you for your continued prayers for us and our ministry!

Sincerely,

Jacob, Lydia, and Samuel Jones
