Dear Friends in Christ,
May is the month when we set aside a day for us to recognized our mothers. We had some visitors on this special day this year and one young lady, visiting with her mother, responded to the invitation for salvation while her mother responded to get some things right with God. Later in the day, one of our Dads was able to lead his son to Christ at home. This little guy (first grader) had been showing some real interest and asking questions in his class and when he went to his father with his questions, he accepted God’s gift of salvation. What a privilege to see the Holy Spirit work in hearts and be present at the birth of a new brother or sister in Christ! And what a great way to celebrate motherhood and birth.
This is also the month for graduations. We were asked to speak at a family celebration honoring 2 high school grads. While challenging them to make their lives count for Christ, several of the other people present responded to surrender to God’s control and leading in their lives. We’ve known many of these folks for years and have even taught their parents. These young people need to be bring glory to God with their lives as they prepare to take the leadership roles in their communities, homes and even in their local church.
Our home schooling families are also completing this year’s requirements. We’ve taken a field trip with them to the inside of the Glen Canyon Dam right there in Page, and now planning to take them on a trip to the Grand Canyon. This visit won’t be quite as local as the dam which only required a couple minutes of travel, but is still only about 1½ hrs. away. Should be a fun time – as well as instructive.
Thanks for praying for these families as they have had to make adjustments and sacrifices to accomplish this year’s work, as well as helping their older brothers with their school bills as they attended International Baptist College in Phoenix (and were even room-mates). We’ve been very pleased to watch both young men grow in their love for God and willing to serve Him. Thank you for praying with us for both of them, as well as for their families. Tyler is leaving this week to spend the summer as a counselor at a Bible camp in eastern Arizona and then in Canada as the camp staff relocates for 2 more weeks of camp there.
Daniel is going to be looking for a local job to help pay off his school debt so he can return in the fall. However, he will be taking a couple of weeks off work to join a mission team of 7 members from the College and Church in Phoenix, headed for the Philippines to do some village evangelism. Please pray for his financial needs, both for the trip and for Bible College.
We are also gearing up for our VBS program, as many of you are also doing. Please pray that we have the workers needed and that God will work in the hearts of workers and children alike. It is not unusual to see God work in families through these VBS programs as parents see the lives of their children change when they accept Christ.
Prayer is so very important in our ministry. Thank you to each of you for praying with us over the years. We also appreciate the financial support that helps us meet our obligations in this world. Thank you.
In Christ,
Sam & Janet Grammer
PS. I’ve noticed that our e-mail provider has changed their format and our emails are being designated as “Century Link”. I have included our name in the subject line so that hopefully we won’t have our monthly up-dates deleted because you don’t recognize the sender. I’ll try to do this regularly so that we can keep in touch with you without having to change providers since our prayer cards are printed with this address – and to avoid having you make changes when you want to send messages to us. Let’s hope this
