{"id":2020,"date":"2021-05-20T17:49:09","date_gmt":"2021-05-21T00:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibimi.com\/?p=2020"},"modified":"2021-07-26T12:44:04","modified_gmt":"2021-07-26T19:44:04","slug":"veldhuis-may-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ibimi.com\/?p=2020","title":{"rendered":"Veldhuis May 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dear Co-laborers in Christ,<br>\nDespite repeated unfortunate delays with this update, we can only thank you and extol our God of all Grace for turning this Covid-19\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cvalley of Baca [weeping] into a well\u201d of life (Psalm 84:6).<br>\nThe promises of verses five and seven of this chapter further proved as true today as when first penned: \u201c<em>Blessed are they that\n<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>dwell in thy house: they will be <\/em><em>still praising thee. Selah. They go from strength to strength&#8230;\u201d\n<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The year long closure of all three Cocopah reservations to any group ministries or Native pickups actually broadened and\nstrengthened relationships through increased weekly personal visits. Parents were often happier than their largely foster children\nfamilies for our constant supply of basic life needs, Bible DVDs and quizzes, school or activity packs, and tri-weekly live-streamed\nchurch services.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bible studies and smaller group meetings with off-reservation Native families brought rich fellowship the world could never give\nthose who looked elsewhere (1 John 2:17). Homebound Lydia S. blessed us similarly in town with news of her watching a Biblical\nNavajo evangelist after viewing our live-streamed services.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salvador and Lorie were gloriously married March 5th in our church almost a year to the day of his conversion and Lorie\u2019s re-\nsurrender to the Lord the final night of our 2020 revival. They won custody of Lorie\u2019s three nine to sixteen year-old children after his full\ntime employment and both of their victory over longstanding substance abuse.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PRAY for the entire family\u2019s huge health and housing needs as well as teenagers Lilly, Tyler, and Tyrus\u2019s suicide attempts, gang\nactivities, and lifetime imprisonment. Revival meetings late March at Heritage and Maranatha Baptist churches helped relieve these\npressures and assuage the losses of Salvador\u2019s probably unsaved aunt and Lorie\u2019s last living Quechan sisters to the virus.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The re-opening of our tribe April 1st allowed us to take teens to the Bill Rice West Branch Teen Retreat, April 30th-May1st as well as\nto resume Jacob and Lydia\u2019s monthly teen rally, April 9th. Dawn and I were blessed to update Central Baptist Church of Santa Ana, CA\nin person for the first time in ten years, April 7th and 8th!\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our dependence on your prayers and provisions for both physical and spiritual needs cannot be overemphasized or adequately\nrecognized. Providential virtual miracles in recent weeks alone included:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe spiritual hunger and joy throughout the teen retreat of Ayla and Phoenix, two girls from hardcore traditional and\nbroken homes.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBreakdown of our van <strong>before <\/strong>beginning the 720 mile round trip drive to the retreat.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProtection from loss of control on mountain curves of the substitute van\u2019s dangerously worn ball joints and steering\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcomponents.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDiscovery of a bus fuel line leak spraying onto its\u2019 hot manifold in time to prevent a fire.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe means to cover a full set of tires and the myriad repairs of other vehicles for summer ministries.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tYour prayers for \u201cutterance and boldness in making known the Gospel\u201d (Eph. 6:19) are tools we know and trust to turn these\npetitions into eternal blessings.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>PRAISES\n<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tParents increasingly sending children to Bible Clubs and church.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExcitement of young people and parents about summer camps.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSuperb teen response to resumed Bible clubs and rallies.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJacob and Lydia\u2019s completed full time deputation and help with the Cocopah beyond their recently begun Quechan\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twork.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tResumption of North Rez Bible clubs and church pickups (25 miles away).\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMichael\u2019s good February cancer follow-up, a CDL physical, and successful March knee surgery.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>PETITIONS\n<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tYoung adult Casey\u2019s salvation and huge physical and mental health needs.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t12 year old Anthony, five siblings, and mother\u2019s needs after the father\u2019s fatal April heart attack.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSouls saved and matured through Neighborhood Bible Time, June 14-18, and Bill Rice West Branch Junior and Teen\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCamps, June 21st-25th, and June 28th-July 2nd, 2021.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPossible July Native Week at Apache Creek Deaf and Youth Camp in New Mexico.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEach of our health, wisdom, and safety \u2018midst summer\u2019s grueling heat, sandstorms, and monsoon humidity.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHeartfelt love and personal thanks for each one of your invaluable prayers and sacrifices.\nSincerely In Christ,\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMichael and Dawn Veldhuis (II Cor. 9:8)\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Co-laborers in Christ, Despite repeated unfortunate delays with this update, we can only thank you and extol our God of all Grace for turning this Covid-19 \u201cvalley of Baca [weeping] into a well\u201d of life (Psalm 84:6).
